Brief summary of the study
A current study by the Biological Psychology and Health Psychology departments of the Institute of Psychology at the University of Graz is examining the effects of running on the heart and brain.
Beginners are being sought for this study. The lottery decides whether the running intervention starts at the beginning or end of the study, which can last between two and four weeks.
The running units are to be completed on a standardized running route in Leechwald (north-eastern outskirts of Graz) on average every other day: Five kilometers with a small difference in altitude at "your own pace" (assessment of the appropriate moderate pace is made at the start of the study).
The study itself lasts a total of 4 weeks and includes three measurement points.
At these measurement points, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electrocardiography (ECG) and psychological assessments as well as the estimation of training-specific performance parameters (UKK) are carried out. According to the current state of knowledge, none of these procedures pose a health risk.
